COVINGTON — Eleanor Geraldine “Jeri" Abernathy, 59, Covington Manor Health Center, died at 7:15 a.m. March 1, 2000 in Provena USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. She was born June 11, 1940 in Bristol, Va., the daughter of John Snodgrass and Cora Brown. She had resided at the center for eight years and was a former resident of Scottsboro, Ala. She attended the First Baptist Church in Covington. Survivors include: two daughters, Janice (Hillard Kim) McManigal, Veedersburg and Tonya Miller-White, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Linda Rogers, Fayette, N.C.; two brothers, Wayne Booher, Raleigh N.C. and Robert Booher, Fayette, N.C.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Friday in Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. – jlr
